ET and LASIK (Laser Eye Surgery)

Do you SEE what is wrong with this picture???

Ugh, the glasses. I’ve worn glasses and contacts for over 30 years. As my Essential Tremor has progressed, the shakes prevented me from putting in contacts or dropping them or poking my eyes, my glasses falling off or getting broken from falls. So Handsome and I decided to budget and bite the bullet and get corrective laser eye surgery. It’s not covered by insurance unless it’s cataract surgery - it’s “cosmetic.” We know dozens of people who had had great success, together we interviewed two highly recommended local practices. This was to increase the quality of my life.

Result? THE GREATEST REGRET OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

To repeat, THE GREATEST REGRET OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Now, any surgery there are risks. But when this did not turn out well, my surgeon’s office was unprofessional and pressured me to have another surgery even when my eyes weren’t healed. They referred me to their Triage Counselors.

They have a Triage Department???? How many patients have suffered injuries? I cried so much over the first nine months after the surgery, at every follow-up visit (with Handsome present every visit), couldn’t drive (they said I could, but good lord what if there was an accident? They said basically, you can’t see but you can drive, our records say that) They didn’t care about that.

During follow-up eye exams, they were like, try harder to read the letters, squint real hard. We were like, I don’t think this is how an eye exam is supposed to work.

So after several thousand dollars for the surgery then more for special corrective glasses from another qualified doctor go heal my eyes, my vision is continuing to deteriorate.

No nighttime driving. I see halos and starburts when looking at headlights or street lights. We thought we had done our due diligence. But the practice we opted for which is really well known in Central Florida was great until their bedside manner went dark when the surgery had complications.

We thought this would be one more thing we could do to improve life with ET. So please please please interview several and ask about success rates!
