ET and Covid - Part One

No conspiracy theories here I swear before god! This is about how the Pandemic specifically affected my life and some science-y stuff with fully accredited links by real scientists. This is Part One.

Remember, depending on where you lived in the world, they said lockdown would just be a few weeks? Ha fun times. At first, I was like God was signaling by saying just chill, take some time off and enjoy time with family. Was so liberating! Was struggling to find work that works with my essential tremor, so I was like the world is saying to me, STAYCATION! Take a break, don’t stress. Handsome and I stayed home, listened to music, played cards, and I pretty much lived in my bikini here in humid Florida.

Well. That euphoria and rest didn’t last long, huh? Weeks passed and passed and the death toll was climbing. People we knew of through friends of friends. Then OUR friends. Neighbors. Young people, not just older or those with other health problems. Effffffff!

We’re pretty sure (including my doctor) that I had Covid at least twice, though both times (2020 and 2022) we didn’t have access to tests. But the sickest I’ve ever been in my entire life. Remember when we all thought it couldn’t be Covid if you could still taste or smell? Oh, we learnt that’s so not the case. Food poisoning lasts a couple of days max. In five days in 2022 I lost 15 pounds due to dehydration, couldn’t keep anything down, lived in our guest room for about two weeks and was truly hallucinating. I saw writing on our plaster walls. I was mentally playing on my iPad (which was charging in the kitchen). Close to hospitalization. Tremor crazy, couldn’t drink even with my sippy cups. Handsome tried to help but felt so hopeless. He couldn’t make everything better. Thankfully on day 11, I could keep homemade chicken soup down that my neighbor, Nancy, made for me. So, I’m still here!

During my illness, missed my trip with Handsome to visit our family in England. Turns out my papers were no longer in order anyway. Once I recovered we learned that the US Embassy was only processing expedited papers for residents abroad. So instead of 2 days turn around, it was six weeks. Blew our travel plans. Handsome has two amazing adult kids I’ve known since their teens and now three Pandemic grand babies we have yet to meet. Crushed everyone honestly. Thank you Covid. You took so much away. Part Two coming….
